Yum!

Okay, so today, I made the Pepperoni Rolls and the Brownie/Cookie Treat (I don't know what it is really called) and they were delicious! You should really try it. I will be making them for the picnics on the 3rd and 4th of July. The only change I have is that on the treat that instead of putting into the tins, put in cupcake paper first. I am still trying to get them out of my tins.

I am again going to reiterate. I am saving the recipes I want to try to this blog. I didn't write them and since I found them on FB, I don't really know where it came from. If you know, let me know and I will give due credit for it. But I found some more that I would really like to try.

More Links....Recipes and Patterns

As I explained last night, I need to keep my links here. Mostly, because my computer crash caused me to lose a lot of patterns and links. I also lost the links to recipes that I wanted to try. This way, I have it in two places...one on my computer and one on here. What I might try to do is when I work on this again tomorrow, just add to this entry and that way I can cut down on some of the "more links" post names.

Pattern Links and links to Celtic Thunder

More patterns that I want to make, but I discovered this week that FB does not like me saving so much to my wall and then only fusses at me when I try to find all the things I saved! For instance, while on our Birthday trip (my middle daughter requested her trip to the zoo), to The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, I tried to play some of the youtube videos I found and could not locate them. My daughters love to listen to these men sing and the songs are fun!

For instance: A Place in the Choir
or Seven Drunken Nights
or Still Haven't Found What I am Looking For
or I Wanna Know What Love Is
or Nights In White Satin
or Lough Swilly Railway
or Belfast Polka
or Buachaill on Eirne
or Take Me Home
or That's a Woman
or Lauren and I
or Ride On
or Halleujah

I had to do a search for the group and hope that the videos would play that way. So our deal is that I will purchase some more of their cds for the girls and I to listen to in the car and at home (my husband is even loving their music). I am definitely going for Mythology first (we already have Voyage).

I am participating in the K12 summer reading challenge with my girls. They are to read 12 books over the summer. But one is struggling as she chose a very large book and doesn't really want to read it. The others are reading quite nicely.

I finally finished the 2nd Sock! Yay! They look great! My daughter refused to go to bed last night until they were finished because she wanted to wear them!

VBS

VBS = Vacation Bible School!
This week the girls attended two VBSs. It was a long week and a fun week. We would get up and go to Resurrection Lutheran Church (RLC) for the morning. I was working with one group and my girls were in other groups. They had a blast. In the evening, I would take them to Urbancrest Baptist Church (UBC) for their program (they have friends in that one).

RLC collected items for donation to the Food Pantry. They did a great job and the kids received the above "dog tags." My girls love them!

UBC collected for Missions in Argentina. They have a money collection where the have the boys against the girls on collecting money. The boys were losing and Pastor Tom added monies to the boys bucket. So the last night they announced the totals from the previous night and the boys were way ahead (about a hundred dollars ahead) and the girls got help! Parents and women who participated! So the final totals were Boys: $732 and Girls: $751! Yay girls!

I love VBS! I love what my girls learn and the fun they have!

Recipes that I want to make

I found these recipes on FaceBook and so I do not know who is supposed to be credited for them. I will gladly credit whomever is responsible. I tried saving to my page but FB decided it was too much and I cannot find other things I saved. So I am saving to my blog so that I can make these things for my family and I will let you know what my family thought. I did not develop these recipes, I just want to make them!

Cookie/Brownie Treat:

Preheat oven to 350; smoosh refrigerated cookie dough into the bottom of each well. Place Reese cup upside down on top of cookie dough (or an Oreo!). Top with prepared box brownie mix, filling 3/4 full. Bake for 18 minutes! HEAVEN

Pepperoni Rolls

7 Up Biscuits

Kitchen Notes:
I have made this danish using low fat cream cheese and splenda (sugar substitute) and it was delicious! Also, the amount of filling the original recipe calls for makes a VERY heavily filled danish. I have halved the filling using 1 package of cream cheese, 1/2 cup of sugar, 1 whole egg, and a 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract and it was still very good. If you use the half filling method, bake for closer to 30-35 minutes.

Oopsies

MOSQUITO REPELLENT

For those of you with Mosquito invasions. Here's an easy & pleasant repellent recipe you can make at home:

Combine in a 16 oz bottle:
... 15 drops lavender oil
3-4 Tbsp of vanilla extract
1/4 Cup lemon juice.
Fill bottle with water.
Shake and ready to use.

Reading Updates, WIP Updates and More Links

I have been reading what the girls have been reading and asking them questions (to make sure that they have read the books in question). I have one daughter who likes to skip words and paragraphs and then cannot tell me about the book, so when she reads, so do I. So I have some updates for my Alphabet reading list.

More Links and some photos from today

Today, I finished cleaning another room (major cleaning) and then I took the girls across the street to go swimming. Just as they started to get in and get their gills wet, thunder!
Those were some big, dark clouds! About 5 minutes after leaving the pool, the rain came and there was more thunder. Then out came the sun for awhile, but I was feeding them supper and doing laundry. After they were ready for bed, I put the dog out (due to begging from dog) and it was raining again, but this time a rainbow!
A double rainbow! I love rainbows and it is nice to see two of them.

I am still working on the 2nd sock for my youngest. I need to finish a shawl and so many other things. But I keep finding so many other cool things to make for my girls and their friends.

This is also, KIP week. (Knit in Public Week). Saturday, I knit at McDonald's and Urbancrest Baptist Church. Sunday, I knit at Resurrection Lutheran Church. Today (Monday), I knit across the street at the pool while my girls got wet. Where have you been knitting?

I also found some recipes. The one that I think is fun is one that came from a preschool. It is called flubber:
What you need:
3/4 cup cold water
1 cup Elmer’s glue
liquid food coloring
1/2 cup hot water
1 teaspoon borax (you can find this in a box in the laundry aisle)

directions:
step 1: in bowl 1 – mix together the cold water, glue, and food coloring. set aside.
step 2: in bowl 2 – mix together the hot water and borax, until the borax is completely dissolved.
step 3: slowly add glue mixture to borax mixture. mix well. pour off excess water.
Store in an airtight container and have some fun! Great rainy day project
