I am making some progress and I am glad of that.
I started another book called American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U. S. Military History by Chris Kyle. An American Hero, recently killed while working with another hero with PTSD. I have to put this book to the front of my list because it is borrowed from the library and there are many who want to read it.

List of WIPs and the FO's:
1. Chunky Crocheted Basket (for my middle daughter). Finished: 3-7-13

2. The Absolute Last Frilly Scarf (for my youngest daughter). Finished: 3/8/13

3. Hogwart's Scarf (for my friend Margaret). Changed the pattern and started again.

4. Prayer Shawl (for Resurrection Lutheran Church Prayer Shawl Ministry). Not touched for awhile, but maybe tomorrow.
5. Thorny KAL (need to get this one started. Not sure who will be recipient).
6. Love Birds (just something fun to make).
7. Granny Slippers (for my youngest). If they turn out well, I will be making several pairs. I really need to finish this. The child is antsy and wants her slippers.
8. Crochet Hook Caddy (for a friend).
9. Needle Case (for friend).
10. Needle Holder (for friend).
11. Wrap (for me. My friend gave me some yarn so that I could make myself a wrap).
12. Granny Square Afghan (There are many in progress. I really need to finish a few).
13. Floppy Dog (need a minimum of 6 or 7 for daughters and neices).
14. Cross Afghan (for donation).
15. Holden Shawlette (for RAK gift for friend).
16. Socks (getting started on learning. Have one on needles, need to make several). I am ready to start the heel, but won't when there is chance of interruptions!
17. Circle Afghan (for DH. I have a good guy. He may frustrate me, but he is good man and I love him and he loves everything I make for him).
18. Baby Monsters (again for fun).
19. A rug (for bathroom).
20. More fingerless mitts (for friends at CU and also my oldest has started requesting them).

I made a matching hat and fingerless mitts for my mother. She says she likes them and is pleased with them. I just hope she uses them.
A first for me. A matching set. All the same color and same yarn. My daughter didn't want to give these up. She loved them very much and wanted them for herself.

If you are in Lebanon, Ohio on April 27, 2013, Resurrection Lutheran Church is going to have a Knit/Crochet - a - thon, to raise money for the Lebanon Community Services/Food Pantry. Also, all items made at the Knit/Crochet-a-thon are to be donated to the churches participating (many of the churches have a knit/crochet group that makes and gives away many items. For instance, UBC makes wash cloths and glass cases to donate to their mission teams. Another, makes and gives away hats and scarves).

Have a great week. I need to get back to work on my reading and knitting (and crochet)!

05 March 2013

More FO's

For those who do not knit or crochet, FO = Finished Off.

About a week ago I finished a baby bib. It turned out pretty cute. The pattern is from Bernat. It turned out pretty cute. The colors are soft and mixed with white. I still need to add a button, but it is nice and I am uncertain who I will give it to.

Also, I finally finished my mother's Christmas/Birthday present. I think I will need to make some fingerless mittens to it or a hat. Not sure which and depends on how much of this yarn I have left. It is called an Irish Hiking Scarf, and is a very simple 8 row repeat pattern with a simple cable in it. Love this and think I might make a few more to give as Christmas gifts this year to people I like who did not get one last year.

Now for the list of WIPs:

6. Love Birds (just something fun to make).
7. Granny Slippers (for my youngest). If they turn out well, I will be making several pairs.

18. Baby Monsters (again for fun).
19. A rug (for bathroom).

I know what a list, but that is where I am at. I will post pictures as I finish something off. I would really like to get things off this list. This is just way too many things to be working on all at once, but that is what I do, I start things and have them all over. I have things to take with me, but then I have things to work on only at home.

Recipe Change

Sometime ago, I posted the recipe for donuts that you can make at home quickly and kids love. Well, I ran out of something when I was making them and I added things to change the flavor and thought I would share this with you so you can make the changes if you so desired. Basic Yeast Donuts, call for 1 tbsp of Crisco. I changed this to 1 tbsp of butter (real butter without the salt). I added 1 tbsp of vanilla. I love vanilla! Then I added 1 1/2 tbsp of cocoa (good Dutch cocoa to the batter). Now it wasn't like the regular, plain donuts, but yum! The changes were good. Give it a try and let me know what you think!

Magazines from the Library Online

I love to read. If you hadn't guessed from the Alphabet Reading Challenge or from the Military Reading Challenge or even from the fact that I challenge myself to read about 150 books a year (I try for more, but 150 is doable). In Ohio, you can have a library card from any library as long as you are a resident of Ohio. Love that! I just learned that in order for me to read magazines online, all I had to do was go to Dayton Metro Libary's site and sign up! Love it! So if you live in Ohio and are close enough to Dayton Metro Libraries, get yourself a card and sign up for borrowing magazines online!

Please check out the link on this entry, it is the video created at the Baptist Church we attend. The kids would really like to reach 10,000 views and I will post photos of the bald pastors if it happens. Last time I checked they only had 1,430 views. They have a long way to go and for them to get 1000 views is a lot, but let's help them hit their mark! Thanks all!

YouTube Video by Heritage Baptist Church Kids. This video was created by the kids at one of the churches we go to (yes we go to three, one Catholic, one Lutheran and one Baptist) and the pastors said if the kids would get 10,000 views of their video they would shave their heads. So please take a moment and view this video and share it.
